About Us
I've always wanted to make soap. When I was a child, my mom made baskets. She would carefully plan out what she was going to make and gather all the materials. She made stains for the reeds using hickory nuts and walnuts she collected on the family farm. The joy she got from making something by hand was always evident in her face when she worked. After she passed away unexpectedly in 2021, I finally tried my hand at soap making in an attempt to feel closer to her. I did it and I loved it, but I didn't love my recipes. There was always something not quite right about them.
It wasn't until a few years later when my son Remi was born and developed dry, itchy patches all over, that I sat down and reformulated my recipes. While my son slept, I researched and experimented and created a recipe gentle enough for his sensitive skin and lucked into the two recipes I use now. To my surprise and delight, an interest was expressed in purchasing my soap and that is how Remi's Rest Soap came to be.
My soap is made in small batches using the old fashioned, cold process method. Soap colorants are all natural and are achieved by using clays, herbs, spices, roots and plant leaves. Oils and butters are carefully sourced, and the soaps are scented with essential oils or phthalate free fragrance oils.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my website. If you try my soap, I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoy making it.
If you're looking for anything in particular and don't see it, reach out to me. I'd love to make you some homemade soap.
